Mass Effect: Andromeda – Playable Characters Are Brother and Sister

0

An interesting new detail about Mass Effect: Andromeda was revealed yesterday that you might have missed.

During a narrated playthrough of the demo shown for Mass Effect: Andromeda yesterday on PlayStation Access, BioWare creative director Mac Walters told PlayStation Access that the male character shown in the gameplay preview is part of the Ryder family. The woman you saw at E3 this year? That was this guy’s sister. And the older dude you saw at E3 two years ago? That’s the father of the Ryder family.

“They [brother & sister] both exist in the game world at the same time,” Walters told PlayStation Access. “If you’re playing as the female Ryder, your brother is out there somewhere in the universe.”

The full Ryder family has been revealed, according to Walters. I’m going to have to assume that part of the game will resolve around figuring out what happened to the mother of the Ryder family since she’s noticeably absent here. Full names and further information will be revealed later this year, presumably when Bioware fully reveals Mass Effect: Andromeda on November 7th via a new trailer.

If you missed yesterday’s showing of Mass Effect: Andromeda you can check out the trailer in 4K at the link.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is due out on the PS4, Xbox One and PC early next year. Stay tuned for further coverage.
