As is the case with most AAA title delays, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War has been pushed back to assure “the highest quality experience.”
Fortunately, unlike Red Dead Redemption 2, Shadow of War is only being delayed by a couple months. Instead of being released in August, the game will launch on October 10, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Monolith_Andy, the admin who posted about Shadow of War’s delay on the game’s official forum, said the following regarding the game’s delay:
“Monolith is committed to delivering the highest quality experience. In order to do this, we have made the difficult decision to move our launch date to ensure that Middle-earth: Shadow of War will deliver on that promise.”
Monolith_Andy went on to say more information about Shadow of War will be revealed at E3, which is a little less than two weeks away.
Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is the sequel to 2014’s Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. The game is being developed by Monolith Productions and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Shadow of War’s story continues that of Shadow of Mordor, following Talion and the elf lord Celebrimbor, with whom Talion is still infused. During their journey through Middle-Earth, Talion and Celebrimbor sabotage the newly-risen Sauron’s armies prior to the events of Lord of the Rings using a new Ring of Power forged by Talion. Using an improved Nemesis System, players will be able to build their own army to aid in their fight against Sauron’s army’s forces, including boss fights against different Nazgul.
Monolith Productions is a video game developer based in Kirkland, Washington. The company was founded in 1994 and is most known for games such as Blood, the No One Lives Forever series, F.E.A.R, and Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor.
