Doing a comparison between the recently released trailer and gameplay footage of Mighty No. 9 at E3 2015 has shown a noticeable decline in the graphics.
In the gifs below, you can see how the text just blinks out rather than flies upwards and towards the screen. In addition, the enemies seem to fade into the floor with particle effects in the demo, while in the trailer they just seemingly blink out of existence. Then there’s the lighting, as the sunlight glare from the window feels less of a glare in the trailer and more of an odd glow.
Notice the lighting differences in the footage from 2015 and 2016. Keep an eye on the windows in the back of the room the player is moving through for the lens flare effect. The player animations also seem to have been fiddled with as well, but that might be just a design choice.
Considering Mighty No. 9 has managed to annoy its backers with delay after delay after delay, the last thing developer comcept USA needs is proof of aesthetic devolution upon release.
