Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’s Content Size “Will Rival The Original Release”

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Monster Hunter World‘s newest snow-covered expansion, ‘Iceborne’, has received a blizzard of new details following yesterday’s reveal, as well as an affirmation that it “will rival the original release.”

During Capcom’s broadcast, the developer detailed Iceborne‘s icy setting, monster types, and general gameplay. Story-wise, the add-on will be a new story that takes place after the events of the main game in a chilly, mountainous area called the Hoarfrost Reach. Those who see Iceborne as a run-of-the-mill expansion, though, are set to be surprised, as the setting is “the largest region in the game so far.” A PR representative at Capcom, too, played up the size of the game, stating that its size “will rival the original release”:

In terms of gameplay additions, Iceborne will introduce a new difficulty mode entitled Master Rank. The expansion’s new biome will debut new monster types, including a horned brute wyvern called Banbaro and a snow-buried Beotodus. The major trophy in the expansion is Velkhana, an elder dragon with powerful ice attacks.

Changes to core gameplay include the addition of new options. The Slinger can now be used while the main weapon is used, as well as new combos and new elements for each of the game’s 14 weapon types.

To gain access to the new content, players must play through Hunter Rank 16 of the baseline World game. For owners of World, Iceborne will retail at USD$39.99. A pack containing the base game and Iceborne will retail at $59.99.

For those who have yet to be enthralled by World‘s charms, the game is free to play on PlayStation 4 until May 20. For more on Iceborne and the world of single player, be sure to follow OnlySP on FacebookTwitter, and YouTube. You can also join the discussion in our community Discord server.

Kalypso Media has announced new downloadable content for its rail management simulator title Railway Empire.

In the new ‘France’ DLC, players can build their railway in the wake of the exile of Emperor Napoleon III. The Third Republic has taken power following the collapse of the French monarchy, so players have the power to decide the industrial future of France.

Players can decide to help rebuild the country’s infrastructure (alongside the new “Eiffel Tower”), or to increase the strength of the country’s borders to prepare for military conflict.

The DLC is set between 1874–1890 and adds 10 train engines, over 12 tradeable goods, and 31 new cities, as well as new songs and characters. The map can be played in the Free Game and Sandbox modes.

Railway Empire: ‘France’ is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One for US$12.99. The game has also received a new update (Update 1.9).

Check out the trailer for the new DLC below.

OnlySP’s Rhain Radford-Burns discussed the importance of Railway Empire in the wider genre of historical games, noting that “the developer grants an insight into the importance of such seemingly menial tasks.”
