Mortal Kombat 11’s Surprise Announcement at The Game Awards

Rumours of a Mortal Kombat 11 reveal during The Game Awards 2018 were finally proven true when series co-creator Ed Boon stepped onto the stage to announce the winner of the Best Sports/Racing Game category.

This award seemed like an odd choice for a renowned fighting game developer to present until the stage suddenly went dark and the Mortal Kombat symbol was unexpectedly revealed. What followed was Mortal Kombat 11’s gory cinematic trailer teasing the game’s story and character line-up, which can be viewed below.

The game’s official release date was revealed as April 23 next year with a community reveal event on January 17, and will be releasing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

From today, players can pre-order Mortal Kombat 11 for access to the beta and extra character Shao Kahn as downloadable content.
