The acclaimed RPG series has been MIA since the days of the PS2. Recently it was said that the games in the series would be coming to Steam, but the latest bit of speculation, coming from BeefJack, apparently has little to do with those rumors. On baldursgate.com there’s quite a bit of activity on the once dormant site.
A big picture of a skull is the main attraction. Just now a block of text has been added beneath it:
“The Lord of Murder shall perish, but in his doom he shall spawn a score of mortal progeny, chaos will be sown by their passage.”
So sayeth the wise Alaundo
The page’s source code also has something to say:
February 28, 2012
Shadowy Figure- Raise Dead : Infinity Engine
For years, I clung to the memory of it. Then the memory of the memory.
And then… it returned. Better than it was before.
The domain for the site was also registered to Trent Oster, one of the developers who worked on the original Baldur’s Gate, who is also a former Bioware designer. Right now the leading source of speculation is directed at a new entry in the highly acclaimed franchise, but other rumors have it as a HD remake of the PS2 classic or even a f2p Facebook game. Whatever it is, fans are excited and according to Geoff Keighley there are quite a few announcements coming in March. Could this be one of them?
