New Combat and Story Details Revealed for Extinction

Maximum Games and developers Iron Galaxy (Killer Instinct) have shared a new features trailer on the soon to be released title, Extinction.

Extinction boasts impressive combat mechanics that will allow fluid and intricate battles through use of  the cancellation feature. Instead of having set combos, protagonist Avil can cancel at any point and transition into a different style of attack, such as aerials, knockdowns, or sweeping area-of-effect attacks.

The cartoon-like, yet gory, project sees players climbing gargantuan ogres whilst cutting off limbs and armour to weaken the beasts before going in for a “kill-shot”. The game, similarly to the popular franchise Attack on Titan, has gamers whizzing around city streets, putting an emphasis on mobility and speed to avoid the ogre’s devastating, yet slow blows.

The featurette details how to tackle  these monsters and all the prerequisites a player needs to take one down for good. By saving townsfolk, defeating mob enemies, or destroying ogre armour and limbs, Avil will begin to charge his rune energy. Charging enough energy will allow Avil to execute a decapitation move on the lumbering giants. Players should keep in mind that multiple ogres may be attacking a city at once, meaning tactical use of rune energy is essential.

Extinction will be released on April 10, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. For all the latest on Extinction and much more from the world of single-player gaming, be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
