New Gameplay Trailer for Arkane Studios’ Prey Released

Published

 on

A new gameplay trailer has been released of Arkane Studios’ reboot of Prey, as new protagonist Morgan records: “I keep having this dream. I’m just staring at the black between the stars. There’s something there. I know there is.” This time showcasing Morgan Yu as a female, confirming gender choice.

While I’ve personally heard a lot of people dismiss the new Prey, I’m actually down with it. The mixture of bad dreams and suggestion of a grim solution to a terrible problem makes me hope for a bleak psychological-horror FPS. Oddly it is giving me a Sunshine vibe, at least in the sense of a “suicide mission where people begin to psychologically break” and the foreboding dream description. Something I’m pretty excited for.

Maybe it’ll even do a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” style ending last seen being touting by the gutsy Kane & Lynch: Dead Men”? Where you make a choice between two endings, and they’re both emotionally-draining downer endings. Then again, I think at this point I’m hoping for too much. Although if there is an AAA game in development currently that would make every ending a bad ending, I think it would be Prey. Fingers crossed!

Prey has a release date of 2017 and will be released onto PC, Xbox One and PS4.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Will Show Unexplored Stories of Secondary Characters

Published

 on

The luminary creator of the Dragon Ball manga, Akira Toriyama, shared new information about the upcoming action RPG, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

Via the Bandai Namco Twitter account, Toriyama revealed that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will depict the backstories of several secondary protagonists. This means that the game will diverge from the story of the manga and give greater insight into Dragon Ball‘s many supporting characters. While a plethora of games depict the events of the Dragon Ball franchise, only a few of them meaningfully expand upon the story’s events, characters, and world.

Toriyama describes Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot as a “fresh new take on the franchise.” Even though Toriyama rarely contributes to Dragon Ball games, he did create much of the lore in the now-defunct MMO Dragon Ball Online, which heavily influenced the story of the Dragon Ball Xenoverse games. While not much information is available about Kakarot and Toriyama’s involvement at this time, the title does have an early 2020 release date and a fishing mechanic.
