New Prince of Persia In Development Using Rayman’s UbiArt Framework | Rumour

The last time we saw Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia series was in 2010, when they released The Forgotten Sands as a kind of tie-in to the feature film starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Murmurings emerged last year that a new entry was in development at Silent Hill: Shattered Memories developer Climax Studios, though the project was quickly revealed to have never progressed beyond the prototyping stage. A new report has emerged from French video game site Portail du Jeu Video that Ubisoft do have a new Prince of Persia title in active development, though it shows a marked departure from more recent titles.

The report states that the series is returning to its roots as a 2D action/platformer and will be developed on the UbiArt Framework Engine, which has powered the most recent Rayman games, as well as the upcoming Child of Light and Valiant Hearts: The Great War. The engine allows for the characters to appear to be rendered in 3D thanks to the way that different parts of characters’ bodies are animated independently, based on a silhouette deformation system. Apparently, in its current state, animations are already in place allowing the character to run, wall-jump and perform sword-based attacks—all stalwart elements of the series.

If the report is to be believed, the game is being developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, who are also currently thought to be working on the aforementioned Valiant Hearts, as well as Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Considering that the Assassin’s Creed series started out as a Prince of Persia game, and adopts the majority of the latter’s mechanics, perhaps a return to the classic formula is Ubisoft’s best bet going forward. Let us know what you think in the comments.

RUMOR: Xbox One S All Digital Images, Release Details Leak Ahead of Official Unveiling

xbox one s all digital

Images of a discless Xbox One S have leaked online, confirming rumors from last year. revealed the pictures it acquired yesterday, as well the name Xbox One S All Digital, prices, and a launch date. Check out the pictures down below.

The console would allow users who are less oriented in the physical media space to take advantage of an all-digital device.

Some of the speculation regarding all-digital hardware pictures a cheaper, maybe even smaller model. However, yesterday’s leak suggests that, while the Xbox One S All Digital may come bundled with games, the price will stick at around USD$250 with no real change in physical appearance.

The only visual difference between the Xbox One S and the Xbox One S All Digital is the lack of a disc drive. Otherwise, the two slimmed down pieces of hardware are visually identical.

As well as a look at the console, the website says that an official reveal will come April 16 with a release following on May 7.

The pictures uncovered do not come from an official source, so holding off believing everything here is for the best. That said, a device such as this makes sense for Microsoft considering the Xbox Game Pass and the inevitability of a more digitally-inclined market.
