Currently being crowdfunded over at indiegogo, Caffeine is a psychological horror adventure game with high attention to story and graphics. It’s currently being developed by a single man by the name of Dylan Browne.

Caffeine is a first-person psychological horror game where you play as a young boy aboard a caffeine mining station. The rest of the crew has seemingly vanished and, with no memory, you begin to search the station for clues as to what may have transpired. The year is 2097, the Earth is over-populated and resource starved. With caffeine being the worlds most used drug, companies created countless outposts in order to mine the resources needed to quench the populations thirst.

Primarily Caffeine is a Sci-Fi horror game, but also employs a strong focus on adventure and narrative. There is a great deal of lore scattered through the world of Caffeine in the form of audio logs, notes, as well as clues to what might’ve happened on the station. There will be no weapons in the game, which might be reminiscent of games like Amnesia, however you will be able to use the environment around you in some way that might make up for it.  Taking inspiration from titles such as Doom 3, Condemned, and Fear 2, the game will employ a chilling, often times unsettling environment. That accompanied by stunning visuals and an interesting storyline should make for an eerie yet beautiful experience. On the topic of graphics, Caffeine will be running on the brand new Unreal Engine 4 which should allow visual fidelity to be pushed even further while enhancing gameplay all the same.

Caffeine is currently being crowdfunded over at indiegogo, so if you want to support this project while it is still in the early stages there are numerous perks available for donations. Caffeine is being developed for Windows at the moment, though the developer has stated that Mac support may be possible depending on funding. With $80,000 AUD as the goal, Browne is hoping to deliver a quality game in early 2015. As the crowdfunding has only just begun there will surely be more development updates and news so be sure to stay tuned.
