Square-Enix has announced that the second piece of DLC for last year’s Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be available next month.
Releasing on February 23, the expansion is called ‘A Criminal Past’ and will delve into the history of protagonist Adam Jensen. Taking place prior to the events of the main game, this DLC will follow Jensen’s first mission for TF29.
The central narrative thread will have the character posing as an inmate to gain access to a prison for augmented criminals in the hunt for an undercover agent. Few other details on the expansion have been provided, though it will feature both new and returning characters for Jensen to interact with.
Specific gameplay details have not been confirmed, but given that this DLC is a prequel, players should expect that any augmentations picked up in the main game will be stripped away.
‘A Criminal Past’ will be included as part of the Season Pass, and although a stand-alone price has not been announced, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided’s previous DLC episode, ‘System Rift’, costs $12 USD. Fans of the game have had a long wait since that episode’s September 2016 release.
OnlySP’s Gareth Newnham reviewed Deus Ex: Mankind Divided last year, giving it an 8/10 and calling it ” a marvellous addition to the series with a well written narrative, tons of gameplay options, and hours of fantastic optional content.”
James Billcliffe also weighed in on the title, saying that the attention to detail allows it “to do away with immersion-breaking video game logic, and more closely match what’s happening in the player’s head.”
‘A Criminal Past’ will be available from February 23 on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
