Nintendo Cancelled a Horror Game Starring The Legend of Zelda’s Tingle

Vanpool, Inc., the game developers behind Dillon’s Rolling Western, has revealed that, at one point, it was developing a horror game starring Tingle.

Tingle, a small, green monster from the Legend of Zelda universe, stands true as one of the most hilariously disturbing things to come out of Nintendo’s universe. Regardless, picturing him taking the lead role in a horror game is off the wall, even by Nintendo’s standards.

The news comes from an interview Kotaku published with Nintendo Producer Kensuke Tanabe yesterday.

Tanabe mostly spoke on Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers and his fear that the game did not reach enough people. However, he did comment briefly on the short lifetime of Tingle’s horror experience:

“Looking back eight years ago, we were developing a horror game with Vanpool that starred Tingle as the main character, but that project was cancelled due to a variety of reasons.”

Vanpool is no stranger to games that are a bit different, but the world could have been a different place with the existence of a (somehow) scarier version of Tingle.
