No Man’s Sky has a sizable update, entitled ‘NEXT’, coming sometime in summer 2018.
‘NEXT’, according to developer Hello Games, promises to be the title’s “largest update so far,” following the comparable ‘Atlas Rises’ update that dropped in August 2017. No Man’s Sky has had extensive free updates since release. ‘NEXT’, being the “largest” expansion to date, implies significant changes are coming to the polarising title.
Few other details about the update have been released, except for a short announcement trailer tweeted by Sean Murray, founder of Hello Games:
Coming in Summer 2018 is No Man's Sky NEXT, a free update for PS4, PC, Xbox and WeGame. It's our largest update so far, and we're working our socks off pic.twitter.com/wZhjaLMbsT

Bundled in with this update news was an announcement that No Man’s Sky is being ported to Xbox One, ending the project’s console exclusivity with Sony. The Xbox One version will include all previous updates, along with ‘NEXT’, and will be enhanced for Xbox One X with HDR and 4K support.
