Nolan North has spoken about the possibility of a fifth entry in Naughty Dog’s beloved Uncharted series.

In an exclusive interview with OnlySP at Supanova Comic Con & Gaming, North spoke about fans hoping for Naughty Dog to develop Uncharted 5.

“A lot of people want the fifth Uncharted, but that ship has kinda sailed. It’s great that so many people can all remember such an iconic franchise.”

North was also asked about the legacy of the franchise, and when he realised that it had become a phenomenon.

“We didn’t know there’d be a second one. I just remember being really excited to do the second one, and when that one really took off, [Naughty Dog] pretty much knew there’d be a third and a fourth.”

Finally, North revealed when he realised that the series was coming to an end.

“It wasn’t until the fourth one kind of started that there’s no fifth one and you’re going ‘Okay, what’s next?’ But you don’t want to jump the shark … It was bittersweet to end the franchise, but we’re proud of what we’ve made, and if that’s the way that Sony and Naughty Dog decide to leave it, then I’m fine with that.”

Rhain discovered a long time ago that mixing one of his passions (video games) with the other (writing) might be a good idea, and now he’s been stuck in the industry for over six years with no means of escaping. His favourite games are those with deep and captivating narratives: while it would take far too long to list them all, some include L.A. Noire, Red Dead Redemption (and its sequel), Wolfenstein: The New Order, The Last of Us, and the Uncharted series.

  1. Uncharted 4 ended with a 40-45yo nathan drake , and a 13-16yo daughter.
No way sony will abandon a franchise that means 15 million sales in just 1 or 2 months.
Just like killzone 5 could be a ps5 launch title, there still are a ton of this that could be done, with nathan drake.
Some dark group, some crazy art collector, etc etc, could kidnap drake’s daughter, her wife and even sully/ or drake’s brother, and drake could well be forced to go and save them:
We could then have a story, a bit like tlou, where drake’s daughter would play a major role in the game, and we would have to control drake to save his daughter, and maybe drake could be shot, or injured… and we would have to control Cassy ( drake’s daughter)….

Just imagine, an uncharted 5, at perfect 4k60fps with hollywood-like visuals… would mean 5 million ps5 sales, day one, and probably 10 million ps5’s in just the first month.

With the switch success, with the google console, with all the portable games, with the future Xbox 2 (the x1x , with ‘old’ hardware, can deliver 6tflops… the x2, should be at least a 15 to 20 tflops system), sony needs something to make people instant jump to the ps5 !

what better than uncharted 5, killzone 5, resogun 2, cyberpunk2077 , a few ps4 remasters ( such as uncharted 4, spiderman, god of war, detroit become human, horizon zero dawn, etc etc) + a tlou2 and a quantic dream new title + death stranding, etc etc, to help selling 10 million ps5 copies in just a few weeks…?

after sony’s announcement, we all know games such as dreams, cyberpunk, tlou2, death stranding , etc etc, will be released on ps4 AND ps5 !

Sony could easily sell an extra 2 to 5 million ps5, with just this: a mass effect 1-2-3 ps5 remaster.
All content, all dlcs, everything, at perfect 4k, with true photorealistic graphics.

Sony could also secure a gta5 4k remaster, with photorealistic textures pack.

there are a ton of titles that could release day one, on ps5, or the next 2-3 months.

no matter how powerful a new console may be, at the end, people buy those consoles to play great games.
