Obsidian Teases New Game Codenamed Project Louisiana

Obsidian Entertainment has released the first teaser image of its next game, currently codenamed Project Louisiana.

The artwork features a pipe and sprig of wheat, crossed against a green backdrop, providing few clues as to the nature of the game in question. However, the symbols do point to the possibility of a rural or agrarian setting, which would be at odds with the high fantasy and dystopian environs that make up most of the developer’s oeuvre.

The images are accompanied by a quote, reading, “I used to dream that when my god came back, he would forgive us. That’s the trouble with dreams. Sooner or later, we all have to wake up.” Like the imagery, the quote offers little context.

Various quarters of the internet have already discussed the possibilities of the game, with some suggesting the developer’s return to the Fallout universe, while others have suggested a sequel to either Pillars of Eternity or Alpha Protocol. Another possibility is that Obsidian’s next game will be related to the Pathfinder RPG, which the developer licensed back in 2014, and released a mobile game for last year.

Whatever the setting, the new game is almost certain to be another RPG designed in the classic mould, with engaging gameplay and a strong narrative.

Obsidian’s latest game, Tyranny, has been lauded for its strong storytelling and unique portrayal of evil. OnlySP will offer an in-depth analysis of this aspect of the game next week.

In addition, the developer has previously acknowledged that a sequel to Pillars of Eternity is in the works, though the game is currently without any details, an intended release date or platforms.
