Obsidian Unveils Project Eternity, A Kickstarter-Funded RPG

Over the last few days, the homepage of Obsidian Entertainment (the developers of Fallout: New Vegas, Dungeon Siege 3 and the upcoming South Park: The Stick of Truth, among other games) has welcomed viewers with a cryptic countdown timer. Featuring an Ouroboros accompanied by indecipherable quotes, it sparked a considerable amount of interest and discussion, and today has seen the result of it all. As expected, it is the unveiling of their latest game but what is surprising is that it will be a crowdfunded new IP with the working title of Project Eternity.

With the core team consisting of legendary developers including Chris Avellone (Planetscape: Torment), Tim Cain (Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines) and Josh Sawyer (Icewind Dale II), it promises to hark back to older RPGs by incorporating elements such as a party system, isometric viewpoint and a tactical real-time combat system that can be paused. It also looks to be an open-world affair with players free to engage in activities and quests aside from the main campaign, but that should come as no surprise.

Project Eternity is currently the fourth game in development at Obsidian alongside the aforementioned South Park RPG, a game based on the Wheel of Time series of novels and their assistance in the development of Wasteland 2. The team has a Kickstarter goal of $1.1 million with any additional funds going towards the expansion of their vision, and they should have no trouble hitting that goal. Although only begun today over $600,000 has already been pledged. Project Eternity currently has an expected release date of April 2014. You can get more information, and add your funds to the goal is you so choose, via the Kickstarter portal.

Digimon Survive’s Stylish Opening Movie Released

Digimon Survive

The opening movie for Bandai Namco’s survival strategy game, Digimon Survive, has been released.

The opening was first shown exclusively at the “Future of Digimon” panel at Anime Expo 2019 back on July 6. The opening shows an earthquake that has hit Kanobe City, as well as some ominous red eyes (presumably Digimon) surrounding an old man in a forest. Near the end, the main character, Takuma, sees a mysterious silhouette of a girl, and the opening finishes with her singing.

Digimon Survive follows Takuma and his companion, Agumon, as they make decisions to stay alive and escape a bizarre dimension.

Digimon Survive will release on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One in 2020.
