Original Max Payne released for iOS, Android version soon

So let’s say you want to replay the first Max Payne in preparation of the upcoming third entry, but you can’t sit still due to all the excitement. No problem; now you don’t have to sit down to play it, because Rockstar released Max Payne Mobile today for the iOS for you to play on the go. An Android version is reported to come next month.

The game hit the App store today for $2.99 and supports the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 4, iPad 1, iPad 2 and the new iPad. The game has supposedly gotten an HD facelift with higher resolution textures. It’s unlikely they’ve fixed Max’s “constipated face“, but here’s hoping. The controls are customizable, and the Rockstar Social Club has been integrated as well. The game’s gotten extremely good user reviews so far, so it seems to be worth the cheddar.

After releasing this as well as the mobile version of Grand Theft Auto III, one can’t help but wonder if Rockstar will be remastering all of their other classics for mobile devices. In any case, you can feel the payne until they do so.
