Near the end of The Game Awards 2018, Nintendo revealed that Persona 5’s protagonist, Joker, would be the first DLC character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime discussed the inclusion, explaining that the reveal of Joker in “Character Pack #1” gives fans a flavour of how Nintendo is approaching the game’s DLC. The game will have five character packs in total, each with one character, one stage related to their respective franchise, and a collection of music.
Fils-Aime also claimed that these would be characters that are “new to the series” and which players “would not anticipate” to be in the game, supporting his bold claim that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is “the biggest crossover in entertainment history.”
A release date for the DLC is yet to be confirmed as the game launches worldwide today exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
