PLANET ALPHA Confirms Release Date In Bug-Infested Trailer

PLANET ALPHA, the colourful side-scroller by Team 17, has a new trailer that details some of the game’s enemy types and subtarreanean levels.

In comparison the previous trailer’s environmental focus, this teaser centers around the game’s fauna and technology. A variety of enemies are on display, ranging from alien insectoids to robotic enemies.

PLANET ALPHA appears to intersect the natural and technological world, skirting the line between organic and synthetic design inspirations. Gameplay-wise, the title balances slower puzzle elements and stealth with fast-paced evasion and platforming.

Impressively, the game’s backdrop is remarkably active, rarely falling into static animation. In terms of movement, PLANET ALPHA invokes memories of INSIDE and Limbo. However, unlike those well-regarded titles, Team17’s platformer appears to opt for the maximal instead of the minimal.

Bundled in with the trailer was an announcement of the game’s release date of September 4, 2018. PLANET ALPHA will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
