THQ Nordic and Piranha Bytes have today revealed the latest trailer and final release date of the sprawling RPG, ELEX.

Being a pre-rendered cinematic, the trailer aims to show off the spirit of the game, rather than the actuality. Set to the grungy beat of Benj Heard’s ‘Whatever Doesn’t Kill Me (Better Run),’ the trailer shows a generic-looking protagonist waking up and beginning to walk. From there, the footage cuts into montage, showing off a range of environments, as well as the garments of the three factions that vie for control of the planet Magalan.

The trailer also closes with the revelation of the game’s release date, which is currently scheduled for October 17 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

ELEX is the latest game from the developers of the Gothic and Risen series, Piranha Bytes, and tasks players with choosing a faction to influence the world state. The game takes place in the wake of a meteor strike, which has introduced a new element to the world of Magalan, with each of the three factions using that element to provide them with different abilities.
