It looks like we won’t be collecting our bounties any time soon.

Pete Hines at PAX Australia has confirmed to website, CNET, that Prey 2 has been cancelled. Hines told CNET that, “It was game we believed in, but we never felt that it got to where it needed to be – we never saw a path to success if we finished it. It wasn’t up to our quality standard and we decided to cancel it. It’s no longer in development. That wasn’t an easy decision, but it’s one that won’t surprise many folks given that we hadn’t been talking about it.”

There were rumors earlier this year that Arkane Studios in Austin, Texas had picked up the game to complete its development. Hines did note that Human Head is no longer working on the project, so Arkane may be doing something with the IP, but it may be a completely different project than what we originally saw all the way back in 2011 if they are indeed working on it.

It is good to have some closure on Prey 2 though. What are your thoughts on Prey 2’s cancellation? Let us know in the comments section and don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest single player gaming news.

  1. It’s a shame that Bethesda treated Human Head so poorly. Here’s hoping everything that can go wrong with their future efforts does. The cowards at Arkane have already had more time, money and resources for their derivative reboot than Human Head ever did, and still have nothing to show for it.
