Update: Upon seeing the registration for the site, I entered my email in and sure enough, just a few minutes ago I received a screen shot from the game in my email. You can see it below.

Earlier this month a site popped up online that had a countdown in alien numbers, and was assumed to be Prey 2 related. The website has since been updated, and now reveals that reveal will indeed be Prey 2, developed by Human Head Studios and published by Bethesda. Prey 2 has had a troubled development cycle, and at one point was assumed to have been canned by the developer. It seems the game may be more of a direct sequel to the original Prey now however, as a line of code reads, “Tommy needs your help with a stranded human who wants to go home. ”

Bethesda however, has told Joystiq earlier this month that the site was not theirs and they have no idea whose running it. “I don’t know what that is or who is doing it. It’s not something we’re doing, said a Bethesda spokesperson. However, a few good points were brought up by fans on the Prey 2 official Facebook page. If the page was a fake, wouldn’t Bethesda take legal action against the page for using their logos and trademarks? Random emails have also been receiving screenshots from the game as well if they subscribed to the website by providing an email address. The latest of which (featured image of the article) was received just over 2 hours ago. You can see the second image just below. These screenshots may or may not be from a gameplay video of the game, but that isn’t confirmed.

One also concerning note is that Bethesda no longer has the game listed on their “upcoming games” page, or Human Head as one of their developers.

The countdown sets it at March 1st at 1500 hours, so make sure to stay tuned to OnlySP for when and if it happens. You can see the countdown for yourself by visiting the link.
