“Project Awakened” funding not looking good – Not even halfway, 12 days to go

A while ago, we reported on the ambitious Project Awakened, a flexible action game being made by former Midway staff that were seeking funding on Kickstarter. Unfortunately, be it lack of publicity, support or general interest, the project has not gotten off the ground yet financially-speaking.

As of the time of writing, Awakened has only gained around $178,000 of its $500,00 goal, and although there are still 12 days left for new potential funders to come along, the campaign has generally lost a lot of its momentum.

The game, which is being built on Unreal Engine 4 (UE3 for the current prototype), aims to allow the player to extensively create and customize their own hero in a world considerably shaped by their choices and actions. You can check out the trailer

If you’d like to contribute to funding Phosphor Games’ project, visit the Kickstarter page here. Naturally, nobody’s demanding that you do so (free country and all :D), but just know that if you’re the slight bit interested and want the game to see the light of day, it could use your help now more than ever.

Many are saying that Kickstarter is starting to become a harbor for unfulfilled promises and dreams without effort behind them due to an increasing amount of projects encountering lazy/slow progress or having their devs drop the shovels and quit altogether. Despite Phosphor’s seemingly present passion and commitment, it could just be that they jumped into the Kickstarter pool too late, during a time when everyone else has already grown distrustful and fearful that its occupants will soil themselves in it. It’s a dilemma, for sure.

Stay tuned here at OnlySP for more news on promising Kickstarter projects and the increasingly troublesome circumstances they find themselves in.
