Yesterday we brought you news that PS4 system update 1.71 was about to roll out to users. Since doing so, reports have come in that the update is causing issues for users.

The update did not receive any official details other than “improve software stability of some features.” but appears to rectify issues with the DualShock 4’s vibration and uploading save files to the cloud. However, the update has also brought about a new issue as users are reporting problems viewing videos on their consoles. Update 1.71 is seemingly optional, so be sure to take this into account before updating if you watch a lot of videos on your console.

It seems that Sony could really benefit from a preview beta programme for updates similar to that found on Xbox One, as every PlayStation 4 system update seems to cause more issues. For more on PlayStation, be sure to bookmark OnlySP and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

  1. Since 1.71 my Facebook via Link with Other Services (PS4) gives me “An error occurred during communication with the server” or Link App with Services (Android) that just goes straight back to the login screen every time. Was fine before the update!
