PS4/Xbox One Versions of the Mass Effect Trilogy Are Being Discussed Internally At BioWare

According to Aaryn Flynn, the General Manager of BioWare’s Edmonton and Montreal studios, a remastered version of the Mass Effect trilogy for the PS4 and Xbox One has been discussed internally.

When asked this question on Twitter by user, shinobi602, Flynn replied that “[they]  have discussed that internally. If [they] can put solid plans together [they]’ll share.” Something to note is that BioWare and EA have previously hired Edge of Reality to port Dragon Age: Origins to Xbox 360 and PS3 and Mass Effect to PS3 so perhaps this developer or someone else could be hired once more to work on this port as the studio continues to create three new titles. BioWare is currently working on Dragon Age: Inquisition, a new IP, and a new Mass Effect title.

Other studios have chosen to create remastered versions of their games on PS4 and Xbox One which include United Front Games and Tomb Raider, Ubisoft and Rayman Legends, and Sony Santa Monica with four PSN titles (Escape Plan, Sound Shapes, flOw, and Flower).

If we hear official news on a potential remastered Mass Effect trilogy, we will let you know.

Report: Game of Thrones Creator Collaborating With FromSoftware

FromSoftware Game of Thrones

The writer of A Song of Ice and Fire, the book series behind the popular television show Game of Thrones, has reportedly been consulting on a FromSoftware title.

In a blog post on his official website, George R. R. Martin stated that he has “consulted on a video game out of Japan.”

Gematsu has reported that a contact familiar with FromSoftware—the Japanese development studio known for Dark SoulsBloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice—has shared that Martin is working with the studio on a project known internally as “GR.”

According to Gematsu‘s contact, the project, which has been in development for three years, is an open-world game and will feature horse riding. The player will be able to visit several kingdoms and obtain abilities by killing their leaders. Hidetaka Miyazaki, director of some of FromSoftware’s most acclaimed titles, is reportedly working on the game.

Gematsu reports that the title will be officially announced at Microsoft’s E3 press conference later this year.

YouTube channel Spawn Wave reported in March about a rumour regarding a potential collaboration between Martin and FromSoftware, so this recent report gives even more validity to the speculation. However, without any official word, the news should be taken with a grain of salt.
