Rainbow Six Siege Has No Actual Single Player Story Mode

7

During the EGX 2015 game event, Ubisoft confirmed that the next game in the Rainbow Six franchise—Siege—will not have a single player story mode.

The art director Scott Mitchell had the following to say:

There is no story mode per se. You go through training, where you get to experience different operators and their devices. You can play against enemy AI in co-op through all the maps. You can customise matches, so that’s what we’re offering on the single-player side of things. It’s a pretty good training ground, and on top or that you’re unlocking the same content as you would playing in PvP. You’re still gaining stars, reknown points, and new operatives.

With this, Ubisoft is primarily focusing on the multiplayer aspect of the game and leaving its single player component to the wayside.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege will be launching for the PS4, Xbox One and PC on December 1, 2015.

Ubisoft made it seem that single player for Rainbow Six Siege was going to be important in previous showings.

  1. They said that when they originally announced the game. Which is when I decided I wasn’t interested. The Vegas games where great, as were the Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon games and I was hoping for more of that with the “Siege” part just being the typical online throw away like all other games with multiplayer. Which is also how The Division will be too.

Getting sick of these online trash heaps. Sheep keep giving devs their money whether they create a solid game or not and it sends them the wrong message. Thanks to the new generation of gamer, the 30 and under crowd, games are devolving. Some day in the near future there will be no more games, just packs of online multiplayer maps because people with ADHD can’t focus enough on the journey’s or the puzzle solving or the adventures with actual story’s, they will only be able to shoot hordes of enemies or simply defend things with their “friends”, most of which they never actually met face to face before.

    1. Actually, they never really definitively said there was no actual story mode. They kept dodging the question and directing us to their Terro Hunt and stuff like that. Even on their subreddit they continued to dodge the question.

But yea, I’m in the beta, haven’t played enough of it yet to really give an informed opinion, but, as far as I can tell after playing a few matches, it’s going to get boring quickly.

      1. To be fair, they described in detail what it was and by what they didn’t say was their way of saying no campaign. It was more of a “read between the lines” sort of thing. By constantly explaining it the way they did was more telling than them just coming out and admitting no campaign. I can tell immediately what a developer is up to specifically by how they dodge and avoid details when they make their announcement and how they present their monster to the public for the first time.

        1. If only they hadn’t cancelled rainbow six the patriots that was announced back in late 2011, that game looked interesting. But no, they had to cancel it for this piece of crap multiplayer bull.

  2. Ubisoft became what Microsoft or EA was years ago – giant with very little sense for what they are actually doing,Rainbow Six isn’t and was no multiplayer game at all.It was tactical shooter where you set up your teams, saving hostages, planning etc with very hard to beat AI. Now all single player is – is collecting achievements.Who cares about that?!I remember characters in 2003 Rainbow Six – those are characters from Tom Clancy’s books – like Chavez,Rakuzanka,Arnavisca who you had to deploy

  3. Its very simple .Was going to purchase but wont now.

  4. Huge fan of Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Still play it when I need my fix. But no single player means I ain’t buying it!
