Rockstar Shares Some Striking Details and Images of Frontier Towns in Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 is not that far away, and Rockstar has ramped up the hype a little more by showing off some fresh frontier screenshots.

As already seen via the game’s trailers, Red Dead Redemption 2 is not short of interesting towns, hamlets, and Wild West vistas to rob and do cowboy things in. The studio has gone a step further by releasing some descriptions of these towns, which delves deeper into architectural histories than the title’s predecessor ever did.

The first town, known as Valentine, is described as a “raucous, rough-and-tumble town in the Heartlands,” with “livestock auctions […] ranchers, cowboys, gamblers, outlaws and prostitutes from far and wide, all looking to make some money, raise some hell, and have a good time.” Essentially, Valentine is looking to be the go-to place for a robbery.

Second up is Annesburg, which looks a lot rougher around the edges. Located in Roanoke Ridge, OH, Annesburg is a coal mining town with “working conditions [that] are terrible for little pay, and many men have lost their lives down the pit.”

Following that, the game’s party town, Saint Denis, is revealed, as well as the snow-ridden Mount Hagen and swamp-flooded Lagras. The final two locations look ripe for some great story content. The first of these towns is Strawberry, which is “little more than a small logging town until the arrival of its new mayor, an East Coast eccentric, who is obsessed with transforming it into a cultural beacon for wealthy tourists, much to the bemusement of the locals.” The other locale is Rhodes, describes as “prim and proper on the surface,” but caught up in a feud between two plantation families.
