Resident Evil 2 is Being Completely Remade, Not Just Another Remaster

0

In what can only be good news to Resident Evil fans, the second entry in the classic Japanese horror series will be a full remake as opposed to just a remaster.

The original Resident Evil 2 was released in 1998 for the PS1, and now 17 years later it is being rebuilt from scratch to stand alongside the current generation of titles. There is now a whole new wave of players that would have been too young to play the original that can get their hands one of the most popular entries of one of the most-loved horror series of all time.

Capcom originally stated that they were developing a “remaster” of the game, but Capcom UK’s senior marketing director Stuart Turner wrote on his Twitter page:

“Seems to be a few people picking up a mistranslation in our own investor report. RE2 will be a full from the ground up remake NOT a remaster.”

Resident Evil 1 has already received the remaster treatment on a few occasions including for the Gamecube and then again for the current generation earlier this year. Known as Resident Evil HD Remaster, this latest version was primarily an overhaul of the aethetics but the RE2 release will reportedly be much more than that.
