Spanish gaming site The Vault has supposedly been told by an anonymous source from Microsoft that the upcoming Xbox 360-exclusive shooter Gears of War: Judgement, which acts as a prequel to the entire series, will also include the very first Gears of War.

They claimed that brand new copies of Judgement will come with a code for a digital version of Gears of War that can be redeemed on the Xbox marketplace. This remains a rumor for now, since it hasn’t been officially announced yet, but it sounds very plausible.

This inclusion kind of makes sense from a marketing standpoint, since it’s an incentive to pick up a new copy of the game rather than a used one, but really; what 360 owner doesn’t own or has at least played the original Gears of War at this point? Even if you haven’t, used copies can be snagged for a mere $2.99 from Gamestop. I’ve thrown away stuff worth more than that.

In any case, stay tuned for more news coverage of Gears of War: Judgement.
