SEGA Europe has announced that it has acquired Two Point Studios, the developer behind the popular business simulator game Two Point Hospital.
Two Point Hospital was released in 2018 and published by SEGA. The game is a type of business sim that involves constructing and running a hospital located in the fictional Two Point County, with the goal of treating patients who present with various exotic, and often amusing, ailments. The title received considerable acclaim from both fans and critics.
The acquisition is said to be a part of SEGA Europe’s ongoing Searchlight program, which is an initiative designed to find new talent and intellectual property that can benefit SEGA as a whole.
Two Point Studios is a British videogame studio that was founded in 2016 by veteran developers Ben Hymers, Mark Webley and Gary Carr. The studio had previously worked closely with SEGA Europe on the development of Two Point Hospital.
Co-founder Webley said as part of a press release: “We’re looking forward to executing the next phase of our plans as we continue to evolve Two Point County. It’s a hugely exciting time to be a part of Two Point and we are here today thanks to the hard work, passion and dedication of our small, but amazingly talented team here in Farnham and the incredible fans that have supported us throughout and guided our continued development of Two Point Hospital.”
Two Point Studios is said to be working on several titles which are yet to be announced. For further developments, keep checking with OnlySP on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, or join the discussion on the OnlySP Community Discord.
