Shadow of the Colossus PS4

Team ICO’s highly-revered PlayStation 2 classic Shadow of the Colossus is getting a fully-fledged remake for PlayStation 4.

Announced at Sony’s E3 2017 press conference, the game is being developed by Bluepoint Games in association with Sony Japan Studio. Although the game is a remake, Shadow of the Colossus will be the first title on which Bluepoint Games has worked unfettered from a previous formula, as the developer has previously worked on a number of remasters (including the PS3 remaster of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus) and ports (such as the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall).

The debut trailer focused on footage that will be instantly familiar to fans of the original, with environments, locations, and Colossus designs being replicated. The footage does, however, provide a magnified sense of scale and scope when compared to the PS2 original:

Few details are available at present, though the possibility exists that Bluepoint will have the freedom to expand on the original game, as Fumito Ueda (creative director on the PS2 version) has previously stated that he had plans to include more than 60 colossi, but was forced to cut the total number to 16 due to time and technological constraints.
