Shenmue III

Shenmue III‘s launch trailer has been released, showing a commitment to catching players up on the storylines behind Shenmue and Shenmue II.

The trailer shows Ryo Hazuki and Ling Shenhua reunite and reflect on some of the memories of the previous two Shenmue titles.

Shenmue first released in 1999, with Shenmue II following two years later, so developer Ys Net has put an emphasis on ensuring that players have ways of connecting the dots between these titles and the latest. Publisher Deep Silver describes these efforts as follows:

Shenmue III includes a special ‘recap digest’ movie created by Yu Suzuki that retells Ryo Hazuki’s story from the beginning. Players can also speak to non-player characters they encounter to learn all about the events of the first two Shenmue games.”

Shenmue III raised over USD$6 million through its Kickstarter campaign, and this third installment of the legendary series will be released on November 19 for PC, via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and PlayStation 4.
