Single-Player Campaigns May Return in Call of Duty 2019

Call of Duty 4

A new job listing on the Infinity Ward website implies 2019’s Call of Duty will have a single-player campaign.

Following news that Black Ops 4 will be abandoning single-player support, anxieties were raised regarding the place of solo content in Call of Duty‘s future. The listing on Infinity Ward’s page, however, is for a Narrative Scripter, which strongly implies there will be some form of campaign content. The overview of the job reads as follows:

“Come work with the game industry’s brightest on a new, exciting, unannounced title for multiple next gen platforms. In this hands-on role, you’ll collaborate with scripters, sound designers, writers, and directors to implement voice-over performances in-game across a wide variety of player experiences – from combat to set-pieces … [must have] a strong desire to bring life to game characters through naturalistic and cinematic implementation of vocal performance.”

Treyarch, the second primary developer for the franchise, recently suggested that Black Ops 4 will be the outlier in omitting single-player content. Infinity Ward has a strong reputation for providing decent Call of Duty campaigns, so single-players should be happy for the studio’s return to the format.

Stalker 2 is Not A Revived Version of the Cancelled 2012 Project

Stalker 2

Stalker 2 has been confirmed as an entirely new project that has no basis on the cancelled 2012 sequel.

Roughly a decade ago, fans were excited when Stalker 2 was announced. Unfortunately, in 2012, Ukrainian developers GSC Games World was shut down and all progress on the sequel was put on hold.

All went quiet until 2014 where the company resurfaced and announced that development on a version of Stalker 2 was underway. Despite a developer build for the original Stalker 2 making its way onto the web, GSC Games World chose to start from scratch and create an entirely new AAA experience for the series.

GSC Games World has so far not stated why the decision was made to start from the beginning, aside from the assurance that the new game is currently in development and will hopefully hit stores in 2021.
