Gunfire Games has spoken about the gameplay and inspirations of its upcoming title Remnant: From the Ashes.

In an interview during IGN’s E3 live stream, Gunfire Games President and co-founder David Adams revealed that the game will feature around 24 or 25 bosses.

“We definitely wanted to make sure every boss is unique and challenges you in different ways,” said Adams. He mentioned that every boss has a unique mechanic that will challenge the player in a different way.

Adams said that Remnant: From the Ashes is inspired by the Soulsborne games by FromSoftware, particularly in regards to difficulty. He added that players are likely to die several times before mastering boss fights.

As the game is co-operative, Adams mentioned that bringing friends along to boss fights will help to overcome the difficulty. Despite featuring co-operative gameplay, however, Remnant can be fully played offline.

Players are able to equip items such as guns, armour, and magical items such as trinkets. The game also features melee, so players can equip two guns alongside a melee weapon and chain attacks between them. All weapons and armour can be upgraded over time.

Remnant: From the Ashes will be released on August 20, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

His favourite games are those with deep and captivating narratives: while it would take far too long to list them all, some include L.A. Noire, Red Dead Redemption (and its sequel), Wolfenstein: The New Order, The Last of Us, and the Uncharted series.
