Soundtrack Spotlight – “Space Cruise (Title)” (FTL)

0

If you didn’t immediately take a shine to Ben Prunty’s soundtrack for 2012’s space sim indie darling FTL: Faster Than Light upon opening the game for the first time, then it was only a matter of time until you did. Such is the quality of the opening tune: Space Cruise (Title).

The entirety of FTL‘s soundtrack – which I am positive will make some appearances later on – is quite similar to Space Cruise; simple and catchy techno melodies with some great backing only a musician with an intimate knowledge of electronica could produce. In that sense, it’s a great opening track. It sets the bar for the rest of the game’s score almost perfectly.

It’s a fine tune, and it’s also the perfect song to welcome players back to the beginning after yet another death. You can purchase it (and the rest of the FTL soundtrack) from Ben Prunty’s Bandcamp page.

Mike Cosimano resides in the coldest part of an area known for its already frigid temperatures, where he complains that every game isn't just Spider-Man 2 again. He also enjoys podcasting and being confused by PC gaming in his spare time. You can talk to him if you want to hear about his Fast and Furious crossover fan fiction.
