Following a better than expected financial year, Square Enix has released its latest fiscal report, which reveals some information regarding the release of Kingdom Hearts III, as well as Tomb Raider and other future releases.
In a chart from the report, embedded below, Square Enix explains that due to increased revenue from digital sales, business improved considerably compared to the previous fiscal year:
More importantly, the chart reveals the publisher’s plans for the current fiscal year, which runs until March 31, 2019. Overall, Square Enix is planning to expand its portfolio of major releases, especially in the sector of digital sales. The publisher also mentions an increase in revenue is expected due to the “launches of multiple blockbuster and mid-sized titles.”
The bottom of the chart reiterates Square Enix’s announced releases for the remainder of fiscal year, including Octopath Traveler, which releases July 13; Shadow of the Tomb Raider on September 14; and Kingdom Hearts III given a blanket 2018 release. The chart also notes that these titles are only those that have thus far been officially announced, so others may yet be revealed. The publisher recently revealed that, this year, it will be hosting an E3 press conference for the first time in several years, suggesting that a release date for the hotly anticipated Final Fantasy/Disney cross-over sequel will be forthcoming then.
