The renowned publisher, Square Enix, is currently engaged in producing a team-based shooter RPG dubbed Catacombs, reports Siliconera. Japanese developer Cavia is involved in the project is well. The project entered development following the completion of the 2010 Action RPG, Nier.
Catacombs features four playable characters (either in multiplayer or solo, much like Left for Dead) fighting for survival in the Museum of Natural History in New York. The players must fight their way through randomly a randomly generated labyrinth in hopes of escaping the area. Players can find and use magically infused guns to defend themselves, and can use spells from rings dropped by fallen enemies.
The title was originally planned to be revealed at E3 in 2011 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, but the publisher is not certain whether the title will actually be completed.
