Star Wars: Battlefront 2

The single-player fans of 2017’s Star Wars: Battlefront II have something to look forward to, with EA confirming that a new solo game mode will arrive in September.

Called Instant Action, the mode calls back to the original Battlefront series of the mid-2000s.

Anyone looking for more story content will be disappointed, but the mode enables players to battle both with and against AI teams in an effort to capture and control a series of Command Posts.

EA confirms that the mode will be playable entirely offline, though it will include many of the mod-cons from the online modes. Those include a range of different character classes (from troopers to heroes), vehicles, the option to play as either the light or dark side, and the upcoming contextual spawning functionality.

While exact NPC counts have not yet been confirmed, the publisher has announced that it is a “large scale” mode that is playable across all of the maps currently available in Capital Supremacy mode: Naboo, Kamino, Kashyyyk, Geonosis, and the upcoming Felucia. Capital Supremacy allows 40 players to compete simultaneously.

The newly released roadmap for Star Wars: Battlefront II (embedded below) also mentions a new co-op mode, new appearances, and content based around the upcoming Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.

No firm release date has yet been confirmed for the new mode.
