Following its release on PC and Xbox One earlier this year, the highly acclaimed roguelike survival game, The Flame in the Flood, will make its way to PS4 as a Complete Edition in January 2017, according to the publishers.

This new release will update the original game with “a host of gameplay enhancements,” according to the game’s PR Manager Alex Van Lepp, though those alterations have not yet been announced. In addition to these upgrades, the package will also provide access to Director’s Commentary, offering insight into the development process of the game.

For those interested, this Complete Edition will also give players a new dynamic theme and two system avatars for the PS4, and all of these inclusions ensure that the subtitle is apt.

The game’s lead designer, Forrest Dowling, went further, saying that, “The additional content and gameplay enhancements very much make this the definitive version – we can’t wait to get it out there.”

Crafted with a beautiful, painterly aesthetic, The Flame in the Flood takes place in a post-societal version of the United States and charges players with exploring and surviving in a procedurally-generated environment with permadeath as a key feature.

OnlySP’s Joanna Nelius reviewed the game on its release, giving it 8/10 and saying that, “dying over and over again will get frustrating, but there is a lot of joy in crafting items; it’s highly satisfying to take down a wolf with a trap and eat it for breakfast”.

The developers of the game, The Molasses Flood, have partnered with Curve Digital, to make this new version of this game possible. More details and a final release date will be announced in the coming weeks. For now, The Flame in the Flood: Complete Edition will launch in January 2017, exclusively for the PS4.
