The Long Dark

The third episode of The Long Dark will no longer make its original December release date.

Creative director Raphael van Lierop confirmed the delay to 2019 via a blog post yesterday.

Thankfully, the delay comes with quite a bit of good news as well, considering that the redux versions of episodes one and two are now set to launch in December instead.

Redux features drastic quality increases across the board and even includes new story moments for players to enjoy.

The Long Dark developer Hinterland recently saw the biggest staff and resource growth it has had in the last five years. With this new-found talent, Hinterland wants to make sure episodes going forward reach their full potential, thus triggering the delay of episode three.

Hinterland has also promised a free update to the game’s survival mode in December.

The Long Dark is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Check out the game’s first story trailer down above.

Michael fell into the OnlySP team toward the end of 2017. You’ll mostly catch his work over in the news area, but that doesn’t mean he won’t dip into the features section every now and then. For him, gaming doesn’t get much better than Metal Gear Solid and Super Mario Sunshine. Though he is a die-hard Nintendo fan, he grew up on PlayStation.
