The Long Dark ERRANT PILGRIM

After launching the long-awaited third chapter for The Long Dark earlier this year, Hinterland Studios has provided an expansive new update.

Called ‘ERRANT PILGRIM‘, the update applies to survival mode. The headline feature is a new region, Bleak Inlet, populated with dangerous timberwolves and dominated by an abandoned cannery.

Meanwhile, the gameplay updates centre around the use of firearms. Most significantly, players now have the ability to craft ammunition, as well as repair damaged guns. These abilities can be used at new machines present in the world, and only in conjunction with new crafting materials and skills.

The other main feature of the update is a new challenge (called As The Dead Sleep), which Hinterland describes as “our harshest Challenge yet.”

As usual, the update also brings a host of bugfixes and other quality-of-life improvements, the full list of which is available here.

The update is available now for free for existing owners of The Long Dark on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
