Total War: Three Kingdoms just had its release date pushed back a few months in order to “make sure it’s great.”

Announced via Total War blog post, developer Creative Assembly shared the saddening update that will see the game’s release date moved to May 23. Along with a somewhat lengthy explanation, the post includes an FAQ in order to further help clear the air:

“It’s been an incredibly busy and exciting time for us in the studio. We’ve been able to show you more of Three Kingdoms than ever before and taking the time to evaluate it thoroughly. There are some revolutionary features going in and it’s looking really good. But we want to make sure it’s great. So, we’re moving the release date to 23 May, 2019.”

Originally, Total War: Three Kingdoms was only a month from its March 7 release date. At least players can expect greater polish, as well as an up in quality across the board.

Just last month, players got a peek at the Sega-published title thanks to a new trailer. Check out the story here.

Three Kingdoms is set to release for Linux, Mac, and PC.
