Ubisoft is no longer working on Osiris

Yesterday, we showed you guys some motion-capture footage for an unannounced and promising Ubisoft game called Osiris. As it turns out, however, Ubisoft is apparently no longer working on the project and has since abandoned it.

A Ubisoft representative recently told Polygon that the action/adventure title, which was to be set in Ancient Egypt and developed by the folks behind Assassin’s Creed, is no longer being worked on. The following was stated:

“The content in question was from a Ubisoft project that is no longer moving forward.”

Unless Ubisoft officially comes out and declines that statement, it’s likely that this project has been shelved or even cancelled. The game has been rumored to be a Prince of Persia series reboot for some time now, and it was even rumored that the title was shown behind closed doors at E3 2012. If any actual gameplay footage was shown during that time, you may see it leak online eventually. Otherwise, it looks like we’ll never see anything else of this project again. It’s certainly a sad day for fans of Ancient Egypt.

Stay tuned for more news regarding Ubiosoft’s upcoming projects.
