Rumours have surfaced of a new racer by Ubisoft Reflection, called The Crew. In a report from Nowgamer, an anonymous playtester described some features of the game, going into detail on its similarities to previous Ubisoft racer, Driver: San Francisco. Using a combination of semi-arcade style racing and open world travel, players will be able to drive from New York City to Los Angeles. Obviously, both cities will be scaled down to preserve disk space. However, what is unclear is that if the player will travel through the entire wilderness that connects these cities, or if there will be some kind of load barrier to reach.
Featuring a map system likened to Google Maps, The Crew will have navigation mechanics. This can be utilised in the core game, or in a Freeride mode. In it, players can choose between missions and challenges at will- a driving sandbox. Like Watch Dogs, and apparently other upcoming Ubisoft games, The Crew will be accompanied by a companion app.
The source tester claimed to have played the game on Xbox 360, telling us it’ll be current gen and next-gen. The E3 event will likely show more on The Crew, but until then, we can speculate the game will be out later on in 2013.
