Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is easily one of PS4’s most exciting games in the works right now. Coming off of The Last of Us, gamers are very interested to see where the story of Uncharted 4 will go. Based on the teaser trailer shown at E3, the game seems to be taking a darker approach, but Naughty Dog is being careful to assure gamers that the series isn’t straying too far from its roots.
In a recent interview with MCV, Neil Druckman explained, “We’ve learned a lot about how we tell stories through interactivity with The Last of Us and there are lessons that we’re applying to Uncharted 4. It’s about finding that right balance for Uncharted – it’s definitely not going to be The Last of Us. But we are trying to make it more personal this time and see how much we can delve into who Nathan Drake really is, and what kind of effect this journey has on him and the people around him.”
Earlier this year when rumors were spreading about Uncharted 4 featuring a darker story, reader’s were pretty divided on the subject, but as Druckman stated, Naughty Dog is working to make the perfect balance between the blockbuster action and story. Luckily, Naughty Dog has excelled at that in all of the Uncharted games released thus far, so there’s probably no need for worry there.
Personally, I’m very interested to learn more about Nathan Drake’s backstory, as Uncharted 3 dipped into it a bit early on in the game and revealed some other very interesting details later on that may have a big influence on Uncharted 4’s story.
