Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 has received its debut gameplay footage and, as far as first impressions go, it has satisfied the “high expectations” Hardsuit Labs is trying to fulfil.

The trailer showed small snippets of gameplay, including some vampire powers, but it was mostly focused on the narrative. The world of Bloodlines 2 is described as “a darker version of our world,” mirroring a lot of the components of modern day life.

Alongside the trailer, the developer commented on some of the mechanics in the game. The game won’t solely focus on blood, with human emotion being a type of resource that vampires feed on via the “resonance system.”

Story-wise, the project takes place after a “mass embrace,” where lots of humans are turned into vampires at the same time. A lot of the game will focus on the different people caught up in this mass embrace, including discussions dealing with how family men, younger adults, and older people are dealing with their newfound vampirism.

Oh, and Bloodlines 2 has a rough release date now. The game is expected to launch Q1 2020 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Check out the trailer below:
