Vane – A New Open World Adventure by Former Artists of The Last Guardian

Published

 on

The Last Guardian may be in the title of this news post, but sadly it’s still not an update on when the game is coming out. However, Vane is a new indie game that you just might want to keep your eyes on.

Rasmus Deguchi and Rui Guerreiro are two former character artists who formerly worked on The Last Guardian and have just announced their first game titled, Vane, at their newly formed studio, Friend and Foe.

Vane is an open world adventure title about, “A child with an odd ability stuck in a strange land. A dangerous natural environment inhabited by a strange civilization. Vane is an open-world adventure game based on mystery and exploration.”

And, guess what? Vane is a single player only title as the first devblog for the game explains, “Vane is a single player game about exploring a world and it’s mysteries, about unraveling the forces behind this strange land.” The blog also notes that we won’t see a whole lot of story details on the game before it releases, which, according to the developer’s website, will be, “when it’s done”.

We’ll be returning to our regular schedule of exclusive interviews starting next week, so you can be sure we’ll reach out to Friend and Foe to talk about this game with them. Below you will also find the first screenshots and art for the game, which is still in its prototyping phase. Currently, the only announced platform the game will release on is the PC, but the developers listed other platforms as “TBA”. I think it would be a surprise if we didn’t see Vane at least come to the PS4.

Roger Clark Red Dead Redemption 2 interview
An Interview with Roger Clark

Roger Clark gave Rockstar Games’s Wild West a new voice when he took on the role of Red Dead Redemption 2’s Arthur Morgan last October. Despite big boots to fill, Clark has managed to prove himself as a valuable member of the outlawed gang.

Red Dead Redemption 2 launched to critical acclaim across the board and is set to go down not only as a triumph in world-building, but as a successful character-driven story, too.

OnlySP’s Michael Cripe sat down with Clark to talk about single-player games, the character of Arthur Morgan, fun times on set, inspirations, and more at Planet Comicon KC 2019. Check out the full interview up above.

“I was trying to come up with something that was honest, yet, had enough ambiguity so that, if the player wanted to make Arthur a total bastard, my performance would still make sense…”

Clark managed to take the OnlySP Award for Best Performer during OnlySP’s Best of 2018 ceremony thanks the “emotion he brought to the role” and his “low, raspy voice that will be ingrained in the minds of players for a very long time.”
