Wargroove‘s cinematic trailer and release date for PC, Switch, and Xbox One have been unveiled.
This turn-based strategy game will be available starting on February 1, 2019, for USD$19.99.
Wargroove is developed and published by Chucklefish, the publisher behind Stardew Valley and Risk of Rain. Chucklefish describes the adorable title in the following way:
“Take to the battlefield with Wargroove, a turn-based strategy game for up to four players! Choose your Commander and wage war on battling factions, using your ‘groove’ to strategically sway the fight in your favor! Design and share online your very own maps, cutscenes and campaign stories with easy-to-use editors and in-depth customization tools!”
Early impressions of Wargroove compare it to acclaimed series including Fire Emblem and Advance Wars. Wargroove takes inspiration from these handheld titles of the 2000s and aims to please where fans have been disappointed by the lull in releases for this genre on the current generation of platforms.
Wargroove‘s cinematic trailer (embedded above) shows off the battle style and aesthetics of four waging factions, chock-full of swords, shields, and magical abilities.
Meanwhile, Wargroove‘s gameplay trailer, first shown in December, features visuals of its high-resolution pixel art and turn-based mechanics.
