According to Watch Dogs: Legion creative director Clint Hocking, the team needs to think globally in order to make their brand larger.

As written in Famitsu, Hocking attended the UBIDAY 2019 Tokyo event where he answered questions about the aforementioned upcoming title. When asked why the game is not set in America like the others, he responded, “To make the Watch Dogs brand bigger, you don’t need to stick to the US, you need to approach the world more. There were also problems in various parts of the world, so I thought it would be interesting to focus on it.”

Watch Dogs 1 and 2 both took place in America, with the first being in Chicago and the sequel in the San Francisco Bay Area. Now, the third installment is going overseas to Britain.

Fans of Watch Dogs will see future titles in new locations as Hocking wants to take the brand further outside of North America.

A more global approach can be seen in other Ubisoft titles, such as the Assassin’s Creed franchise, which has had many titles span over the globe from North America to China, with places such as Rome, Italy, and Egypt in between.
