The release trailer for rogue-like action shooter Woodpunk shows off impressive destructible environments, a bevy of weapons, and deliciously retro pixel art stylings.
In Woodpunk, players take control of a medieval inventor named Aquinas, who must overcome an army of strange and terrifying enemies in a parallel universe. At the player’s disposal is an absolutely gigantic arsenal of over 1,400 weapons, procedurally generated by unlocking different parts along the way. Bomb-lobbing machine guns, wooden chainsaws, snow-shotguns and more will come in handy for leveling the entirely destructible environments and hundreds of on-screen enemies.
Giant screen-filling bosses will try to stop Aquinas on his journey, but he will not have to travel alone. Woodpunk features a single-player campaign as well as local co-op. In co-op mode, the second player takes control of Aquinas’ robot companion, Theo, who is typically controlled by the AI.
Spanish developer Meteorbyte Studios promises players will have to be at their best to handle the game’s relentless, high-octane action and dynamically generated levels. Woodpunk is out now on PC, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions planned for release in Q1 of 2019.
